Community Outreach

Lutheran Community Services (www.lcsde.org) - Lutheran Community Services serves low income families in Wilmington and New Castle County with emergency food, housing and other services. At Tree of Life, we help this worthy organization through food distribution and volunteering. We also participate in their Annual September fundraiser, the 5K Walk/Run Against Hunger.

Quilters – The Tree of Life Quilt Group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 10 am. The group takes its mission from Jesus' admonishment that, "If you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me," which is found in Matthew 25:40. Quilts are made to specific guidelines provided by Lutheran World Relief. Once a batch of quilts is ready, they are taken to Lutheran World Relief collection points where they are packed and shipped to the world's most desperate locations for distribution. No Experience necessary. All are welcome!

Conference Golf Tournament – As a part of the Delmarva conference, we participate annually in a golf tournament to help fund mission congregations on the Delmarva Peninsula. Like to play golf? Join us.

Adopt-a-Family at Christmas time to provide gifts to several families helped by Neighborhood House
Volunteering at the Seamens Center in Wilmington including donations for seamen whose ships dock there
Representation on the Board of the Southern New Castle County Communities Coalition whose mission is healthy families through prevention of at-risk behaviors such as smoking and alcohol and drug abuse.
